Kitsap Democrats Select Sheriff Candidate Brandon Myers for Interim Appointment

The Kitsap County Democrats have formally recommended Brandon Myers, a current candidate for county sheriff, as their top choice to fill the department's leadership vacancy on an interim basis.

The two other names forwarded to the commissioners are Jeffrey Menge, a division chief with two decades of service at the agency, and Ken Dickinson, a retired lieutenant who stepped down in May 2025 after a 30-year career.

The Republican platform argues that this cycle bypasses the intent of the electoral process by giving one candidate the benefits of office, such as increased media visibility and the authority of the badge, just months before the ballot is cast.

Critical Budget Constraints and Agency Leadership Needs Beyond the political friction, the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office is navigating a difficult period characterized by high-level turnover and financial uncertainty.

Any significant crime spikes, departmental scandals, or unpopular budget cuts occurring between July and November would be directly attributed to Myers.
