Bainbridge High School junior Eli Tracy delivered a dominant performance on the mound Friday, May 29, throwing a complete-game one-hitter to lead the Spartans to a 6-1 victory over Orting in the Class 2A state baseball semifinals.
This aggression in the strike zone prevented Orting from building any offensive rhythm or forcing deep counts that might have taxed the Bainbridge bullpen further.
While his four strikeouts are not an exceptionally high total for a seven-inning game, the lack of hits allowed suggests a high degree of "soft contact," where hitters failed to square up his pitches.
A Rotation Reshaped by Injuries to Curfman and Thompson The path to the state championship has required Bainbridge to frequently adjust its pitching rotation due to significant injuries at the top of the depth chart.
This cultural shift from relying on individuals to relying on a system of play is common in elite programs.
