Mountain Fest 2026 Draws Thousands to Historic West Seattle Climbing Landmark

Camp Long Environmental Learning Center hosted its annual Mountain Fest on June 13, 2026, drawing local residents to the 68-acre wooded preserve in West Seattle for a day of outdoor recreation and wildlife education.

While the rock is made of erratic boulders and concrete, it mimics the natural fissures and handholds found in regional granite.

This blend of biology and recreation is a hallmark of the Camp Long philosophy.

This aspect of the festival emphasizes the "camp" in Camp Long, referencing its origins as a site for youth scouting and organized outdoor living.

Since the festival is free, the volume of participants can fluctuate, necessitating a flexible staffing model to ensure that every climber is properly belayed and every visitor is safe around the handled raptors.
